PALAZZO PIGNATELLI

Palazzo Pignatelli

Commonly known as Pignatelli, from the name of the family which bought it after the wedding between Ettore Pignatelli and Giovanna Tagliavia Aragona (1653-1692), it has ancient thirteenth century origins now hardly noticeable due to the numerous renovations. It had an internal courtyard and four towers. Now only one octagonal one remains. It has 119 rooms; the big stairway made up of a number of ramps with benches where the workers sat waiting for their weekly pay is interesting.
