The bagli (From the Arabic  bahal, courtyard) are rural fortified structures, typical in the Trapani area, characterised by the presence of an internal courtyard. Situated in a dominating position in side a stronghold, they had areas destined for use as seasonal accommodation for the owner and for agricultural use; warehouses, barns, and rooms for the workers: there was also often a chapel. There were special spaces for grape pressing (palmentu) or olive pressing (trappitu).
In the territory of Custonaci there are, amongst others the bagli of Rizzo, Castelluzzi, Cammarata, Messina, Barone, Poma, Candela.
