Church of S. Domenico
A church that dates back to the thirteenth century, rising on the only hill of the city and was the work of the Domenican Fathers returning back from the Crusades. Built by the will of Giacomo D’Aragona the façade displays a 14th century rosette of Gothic – “Chiaramontano” style.
King Thibault of Navarre and his wife Isabel, are buried in this chapel. An epigraph indicates the burial of the young son of Frederick III of Aragon (1313). A precious, wooden, crucifix from the second half of the XIV century, is found in this church. Behind the apse is the “Cappella dei Crociati” decorated with interesting frescos of the 14th and 15th century.
